Intelligence for independent operators.

RestroScout provides independent research, comparisons, and operator calculators to help restaurants evaluate POS, inventory, and back-office software.

The Problem

Choosing restaurant software is notoriously difficult. The market is saturated, pricing is often opaque, and every platform claims to be an "all-in-one" solution.

Worse, most software reviews online are either pay-to-play directories (where the highest bidder gets the #1 spot) or generic SaaS marketing sites written by people who have never worked a service, run a food cost calculation, or counted inventory in a walk-in freezer.

Our Approach

RestroScout was built to be the resource we wished existed: an independent, operator-focused publication that evaluates restaurant technology based on how it actually performs in a live environment.

When we review a system, we evaluate:

  • Pricing transparency: What it actually costs, including hidden fees, hardware costs, and payment processing markups.
  • Operational reality: Does the inventory system handle complex sub-recipes and yield? Does the POS stay up when the internet goes down?
  • Integrations: How well it talks to your existing accounting, payroll, and delivery platforms.
  • Support: What happens when a terminal breaks at 7 PM on a Friday.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial recommendations are entirely independent. We do not sell rankings, we do not accept payment to alter reviews, and we do not allow software vendors to preview or edit our content before publication.

Free Operator Tools

In addition to software research, we build and maintain free tools for operators. Our calculators and templates are designed to help you quantify margins, measure waste, and price menus accurately without forcing you to sign up for a trial or hand over your email.
